Dr Ruth Henderson has been counselling since 2006 and has a wealth of past experiences in a variety of settings, including the NHS in Primary and Secondary care services, the Priory in London and various alcohol and drug charities. Now she is working solely in private practice.
Ruth is a fully qualified Chartered and affiliated member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) where she is accredited as a Counselling Psychologist and has the BPS compentancies as a Clinical Psychologist.
Ruth is also registered with the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) and she has accreditions with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). In addition, she is a regional committee member with the EMDR Association UK and Europe.
In addition, Ruth has interest and experience of working with aviation staff, pilots, cabin crew, control tower staff and aircraft engineers. Ruth is a member of the European Association for Aviation Psychology (EAAP) and working towards her accredited status as an Aviation Psychologist. She is the Researcher and DATA Coordinator at the Centre for Clinical Aviation (CAP). Ruth is supervised for her aviation psychology practice by Professor Robert Bor, who is a renown expert in Aviation Psychology.
Registrations and accreditations evidence a standard of excellence having been achieved in that clinical practice of therapy, that the therapist follows a strict code of conduct and is accountable to a professional body in that specific discipline of psychological therapy.
Ruth has an expertise within a number of therapeutic domains including CBT, CBTi, EMDR, Psychodynamics, Person Centred, Mindfulness, Hypnosis and she has competencies within many other therapies. Ruth can work in one therapeutic domain, or tailor the therapy to individual requirements.
Ruth is also a BPS registered Expert Witness and a BPS registered Clinical Supervisor to other psychological therapists.
In addition, Ruth has experience and has taught clinical practice, up to Masters degree level (Birmingham City University) and she has presented on clinical practice at professional conferences and workshops.
